Beautifully You

Your beauty lies in you.

In a world full of unrealistic standards, it takes a lot of confidence to be you. The pressure to use filters, and get work done is immense. But this unrealistic expectation of what you should look like, to be considered beautiful, is exactly that... unrealistic.

Who set the standard for beauty? Who said that you have to look a certain way to be beautiful?

Fundamentally, we were all created in a state of optimal beauty. We were created by the Shaper of Beauty (Al- Mussawir), and His creation was made in perfect form. However, that beauty differs for each and every person. The entire essence of beauty, for me anyway, is uniqueness. So, there can't ever be a true standard of beauty because everyone's beauty shines through in their own way.

Take a flowing waterfall and a glowing sunset. Both are completely different, in every way. Yet both radiate beauty. Just like us. There is no use comparing ourselves to each other, because we are all completely different. So we mustn't allow ourselves to feel inferior when we look at someone else that is "more beautiful" than us, because we are different, and in that is everyone's beauty. When we begin to look like copies of each other, that is when true beauty begins to be lost.

No matter what we see in ourselves that we don't like: a skin condition, acne, a facial feature. We must remember that our form is perfect. Our beauty is not restricted by an "imperfection" because these things we perceive as imperfections are still the works of the Perfect One that created us.

You are beautiful, each and every part of you. You do not need to change yourself to be beautiful, you already are. You do not need to look like everyone else. Embrace your beauty. And, once you see that beauty in yourself, you'll see what true beauty is.
