It's okay to be confused..
At a certain age it can become quite common for people to ask, what do you want to do? Where do you see your life headed? For me, and a lot of others I assume, we're no longer at the age where we feel we have endless opportunities- and determining our future is so far ahead. For a lot of us, that reality is quickly approaching. It can be anxiety provoking to look to the future and have no idea what direction we want to travel in.
But in those moments of anxiety and confusion its important to remember, that although it may feel like it sometimes, there is not a certain age where you have to have it all put together. You don't have to have a firm plan of what your future holds. Have a grad job lined up, be engaged ready to be married and have kids, have savings. Because the truth is, thats not the reality for anyone.
Life is so complicated. There are so many twists and turns and to kid ourselves into thinking we should and will have it all planned out is unrealistic. For some, it may be the case that this is reality- you do have everything planned out. But for others and a lot of others that is, you may not. And that's okay.
I think everyone is making their way through life with little idea of what happens next and what the next step is. But thats the beauty of life. Allah (swt) has a pre-written plan for every single one of us. So when you find yourself confused and panicked and trying to control everything around you, remember that He is above. His hands are the ones that control everything. Surrender your panic to his eternal wisdom, and be calm knowing that what awaits you is good. Whatever is to come your way and whatever is next in your life is by His mercy- so panic is fruitless. He is in control.
Know that everything will always work out, everything will always be okay- and its okay not to know what comes next. Its okay not to know what you want. Because there is One above who knows exactly what you need, and that's what will come to you, exactly when you need it.
